Arch. Martin Tairo Maseghe
Principal Architect & Founder
A seasoned architect, interior designer, and project management consultant with extensive experience across Kenya and the wider East African region since 2009, he serves as the founding principal of Architecture Kenya Design Workshop, a boutique architectural firm based in Nairobi. Under his leadership, the firm has designed and overseen construction across a diverse portfolio, including custom residential, multi-family residential, retail prototype development, commercial mixed-use projects, and renovations. He currently holds the position of Chairman of the Municipality of Mwatate, where he leads the board responsible for formulating policy to support the efficient management of the Mwatate urban centre. In academia, he serves as a lecturer at the Technical University of Kenya’s School of Architecture and Built Environment, contributing to the graduate design program as a professional practice fellow. This role provides a platform for exploring innovative concepts at the intersection of research and practice. He is also the founder and editor of BUILDesign Magazine, the sole architectural and construction review publication in Kenya and the region. The magazine delivers curated insights on architects, firms, buildings, and critical discourse on architecture to a dedicated community of built environment professionals. Additionally, he holds a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA(K)) qualification. Arch. Macharia Mbugua
Architect
Macharia Mbugua is a registered architect based in Kenya and a graduate of the University of Nairobi who has been with the firm since 2020, bringing a fresh perspective and strong passion to the field of design. His work is driven by a deep appreciation of architecture as both a profession and a powerful tool for shaping environments and enriching lives. He believes in context-responsive architecture, drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of Kenyan culture and landscapes. His design philosophy focuses on creating spaces that are aesthetically compelling, functionally sound, and seamlessly integrated with their surroundings. Sustainability lies at the core of his practice. Macharia is committed to designing eco-conscious buildings that minimize environmental impact through innovative materials and techniques. With a collaborative and client-focused approach, he works closely with clients to translate their vision into reality, delivering thoughtful, high-quality architectural solutions.
